This morning, I had the honor of meeting the @Makerere University Guild Executive, led by Guild President @lubega_nsamba, to discuss our ongoing partnership. They expressed gratitude for @NextMediaUG’s support in covering their events, offering internships, and shaping student leadership. But what they didn’t expect was a walk down memory lane.

In 1998/99, I had the privilege of serving as Makerere’s Minister of Academic Affairs, where I started the ‘Academic Forum,’ a platform that allowed students to push for change and voice their concerns. It was one of the most significant initiatives during my tenure. I was delighted to learn that Nsamba recently used the same forum to advocate for a tuition review—watching his surprise when he discovered I was the one who initiated it was priceless.
Makerere University has always been a springboard for future leaders. Many of my peers, like Hon. Oboth Oboth, Odonga Otto, Richard Todwong, and others, are now shaping Uganda’s future. I shared with the Guild Executive: lead well, be mentored, because in 10 years, it will be YOU running the country.
We are proud to continue our partnership with Makerere, especially as they celebrate their Guild’s 90-year anniversary. #Leadership #Makerere #NextMediaUG
