This morning, I had the pleasure of meeting Prof. Florence Muranga at Makerere University — a truly visionary Ugandan innovator. Her groundbreaking work in adding value to our staple food, matooke, through the Tooke brand is nothing short of transformative.
Prof. Muranga has not only pioneered a new way of processing matooke but has also created a model for how local agricultural innovation can drive economic growth, nutrition, and job creation. Her passion for harnessing science and technology to solve real-world problems is both inspiring and deeply aligned with our values at Next Media.
Our conversation centered around how we can support and scale such impactful initiatives. It was energizing to explore how media and strategic partnerships can play a role in amplifying homegrown solutions like Tooke, both within Uganda and on the global stage.
I left Makerere encouraged by the potential of what we can achieve when innovation is nurtured and championed. We look forward to supporting Prof. Muranga’s vision and helping ensure its continued success.
