This morning, I had the honour of opening the 2nd edition of the State of the Digital Economy (SODE 2025)—a powerful moment to reflect on how far Uganda has come in its digital journey.

Building on last year’s call to turn policy into action, today’s discussions affirmed that digital is no longer a sector—it’s a way of life. From financial services to education, content creation to connectivity, Uganda is embracing the digital age with boldness and clarity.
I’m especially thankful to Hon. Nyombi Thembo (UCC) and Dr. Hatwib Mugasa (NITA-U) for their deep insights on trust, infrastructure, and policy—the very rails guiding our digital future.
Key takeaways for me were the growing importance of digital broadcast, the urgency of preparing our youth to lead in this space, and the power of multi-sector collaboration.
If we continue working together—from government to the private sector and citizens—we can build a digital economy that truly works for everyone.
The future is digital, and it’s ours to shape.
