Reflecting on the 4th UG Economic Forum: Driving Uganda’s Future through Conversations

As I look back on the 4th Edition of the UG Economic Forum, I feel incredibly proud of how far we’ve come in leading conversations that shape Uganda’s future. Even though I couldn’t attend in person this year, I stayed fully connected through AfroMobile.

This forum is close to my heart because, over the years, NBS TV has been a key part of making these discussions happen—showing our dedication to using our platforms to create meaningful conversations that help unlock Uganda’s potential.

At Next Media, our mission, “We Inform to Transform,” guides everything we do. It’s not just a tagline; we promise to keep finding new ways to spark conversations that lead to real, lasting change. The UG Economic Forum is a perfect example of this mission. It gives Ugandans the knowledge to make decisions that can truly transform the country.

Each edition of the forum moves us closer to a future where informed citizens are driving Uganda’s progress.

This week, I was particularly inspired by the insights from our Guest of Honour, Permanent Secretary to the Treasury, Mr. Ramathan Ggoobi. His talk about the government’s focus on climate financing struck a chord with me. He said, “We are looking at climate financing. How do we leverage the new normal? We are greening up to attract green financing,” as quoted by NBS TV. His focus on the Climate Financing Unit and the National Framework shows the important steps Uganda is taking to align with global sustainability goals. This topic is more important now than ever.

The discussions we’ve had today, and will continue throughout the week, bring together thought leaders to tackle big issues like investment, job creation, and global competitiveness. These are the conversations that will help transform Uganda.

This mission is deeply personal to me, and at Next Media, we will keep pushing forward. Through platforms like the UG Economic Forum, we are shaping a future where Uganda’s full potential is realized, and where every citizen plays a part in creating meaningful change.
