Running for the Nile, Standing for Uganda’s Future.

Today, I received my kit for the #RunForTheNile2026—a powerful reminder that some causes demand more than awareness; they require action. This year’s focus on protecting Lake Victoria could not be more urgent. The quality of its water affects livelihoods, ecosystems, and the future we are shaping for generations to come.

What stood out for me was the remarkable growth in participation. From about 700 runners last year to over 2,000 sign-ups already this year, it is clear that when purpose meets platform, people respond. At Next Media, this aligns directly with our mission to “Inform to Transform” Uganda. Through initiatives like #TaasaObutonde and the “15 Million Trees” campaign, alongside supporting efforts led by partners, we are committed to driving meaningful change.

I am grateful to the Rotary Club of Jinja for championing this cause. I encourage everyone to show up—for Lake Victoria, and for Uganda’s future.
